Our Mission
Pippa’s Army Lost & Found started when Pippa (a miniature Schnauzer) went missing in 2016. It took 3 weeks for Pippa to eventually be found and reunited with her family.
Volunteers involved in helping to find Pippa decided to keep the Facebook group going to provide ongoing support to local pet owners/families that lose their pets in the Havering and Thurrock areas.
The lost and found group has grown considerably now with over 30,000 members and we are forever growing!
Now, we can have in excess of 100 cats and kittens at any one time in our care, all of whom are lovingly taken care of within our fosterer’s private homes.
Why rescue?
When you adopt, you are helping two (or more) animals: the one you adopted, plus you have freed up that place for another animal in need. Most rescue centres have waiting lists of animals needing to come into care, so when you adopt, other animals can be helped.
Many of our cats were strays and were probably previously owned at some point. Some deliberately abandoned and some lost their way. Some cats of course were born in the wild but we will always try our hand at ‘turning’ a feral cat so we can get these cats a warm bed too where possible. These cats deserve better and that’s where you can help.
How does it work?
Please follow the ‘Cats Available to Adopt’ link above where all of our cats are listed, and click ‘Enquire Now’ if you’d like to offer one of them a home. Please pay particular attention to the blurb and cat’s requirements before proceeding any further. All of our cats will require time, patience and understanding. Some more than others.
You will be asked to complete and submit an enquiry form. Once submitted we will review each enquiry in the order they have been received. Should you not be successful for any reason we would contact you, or if we feel one of our other cats may be more suitable, we will let you know.
Once your enquiry is successful, we will carry out a home check. This will normally involve us carrying out a virtual (video) check of your home to assess the home and the people in it for suitability, though if you are local to the fosterer this could also be done in person.
You are usually welcome to visit the cat within their foster home prior to adoption which can be discussed directly with their foster mum or dad, and in some cases the cat or kittens will be ready to go home with you. We tend to prefer that you collect the cat/kittens yourselves, however other arrangements can be made under special circumstances.
Our adoption fee is £130 per cat with each being vaccinated, micro-chipped, neutered/spayed, flea’d and wormed. Some of our cats are not vaccinated due to age, medical status or any other reason, in which case there is a lower charge of £105. This is to help us with previous and future costs incurred – we are a not for profit organisation.
